ARRIS TM604G/CT sporadic failures

Greetings, our office gets internet and telephone service thru Comcast with Cisco DPC3939B and ARRIS TM604G/CT.
Last week calling our third line xxx-xxx-5106 would get answered with a male voice from comcast "ALL CIRCUITS BUSY NOW MESSAGE TX", this no longer happens but think someone @Comcast should know.
Today, our second line xxx-xxx-5104 is constantly blinking as when in use but it is not being used, when calling I see "user busy" I have power cycle both Cisco DPC3939B and ARRIS TM604G/CT a couple of times and
followed the reset procedure at https://business.comcast.com/help-and-support/voice/comcast-business-emta-reset-phone-modem/#basic-troubleshooting but the issue persists.

 

I PM Comcast_Gina and Comcast_Joe with the real telephone numbers but they have not seen the message yet. Hopefully this post gets some attention soon.

I've inherited the IT duties here and I attempted to use the default "highspeed" password to login, but it was incorrect so someone must have changed it at some point and didn't write it down. I'd like to have it reset if possible.

Good day.

 

I need assistance resetting the cusadmin password on my router.  I have tried the two default passwords (they don't work) and several other passwords that it could have been changed to...none work.

Does Comcast offer a Better Gateway router than the SMC SMCD3G for those that have Static IPs?

 We have locations at 3 sites. 2 are  Comcast Business Internet.

 

Both sites have the SMCD3G. I am having trouble with VOIP services.

 

At one site the VOIP phones are using our router the SMCD3G is of course passthrough on the IP.

 

The other site is split out. The network that is used by the office for internet is same situation our router and the SMCD3G is passthrough on the Static. But the phones are connected to the SMCD3G through a switch and are using the dynamic IP and getting their settings from DHCP on the SMCD3G.

 

So the common denominator is the Comcast service and the SMCD3G.

 

VOIP provider  is pointing to Network being the cause of incoming Calls will ring and phone will not anser when picked up it takes picking up the phone 2 or 3 times for the phone to connect the call.

 

I am curious if I have the best equipment offered by Comcast when it comes to having Static IPs and having to get our Gateway Router through Comcast.

 

 

Any thoughts?

Connected Devices?? and a fix for it

It has been over 9 months since you were made aware of this issue. It has been nearly a year since it first started happening. When can we expect a fix for this? Also you are still pushing out the bad firmware causing this issue. I had mine working fine and not long ago it updated again and all my devices disappeared. Luckily, I had saved my configuration and was able to restore it. 

 

Side note, I have found a way to "fix" it without a factory reset. IF you have your gateway working properly, from the main screen after you login, click "SAVE CURRENT CONFIGURATION" and save the file it lets you download. Keep this file in a location where you can be sure it will be safe. If they push the bad firmware again that stops connected devices from showing... just login to the modem and click on "RESTORE SAVED CONFIGURATION". Browse to your saved file and then click RESTORE. It will reboot the modem and take a few minutes. After it comes back online, all your connected devices will be showing and all configuration changes you had saved previously will be restored.

noticing that one of my four wifi networks shows up as being unlocket. Can somewone point me to a "how to"?

I can log into my modem and get to:

Gateway > Connection > Wi-Fi > Edit 5 GHz

but only the parent name shows up... not the two names I have given to my 2.4GHz networks (one of my 2.4 networks is locke and the other not locked.)

I cannot log into the gateway / modem. I did change my password a while back but that password is now not working.  Can you please reset password to the default so that i can get in. thanks

Gateway > Connection > Wi-Fi > Edit 5 GHz

 

Indicates that 802.11 g/n is for faster performance but there is not a 802.11 g/n mode option.

Just:

802.11 ac

802.11 n/ac

802.11 a/n/c

 

Which to use?

I've been having a problem connecting my LG K8+ to my wifi. This started about a few weeks ago, when it would suddenly just drop the signal and i'd be forced to manually connect it. Now, it won't connect at all. It'll save it but won't connect. My personal phone, which is an LG G5, has no problem whatsoever connecting and keeping signal. I've tried resetting the router, even cutting it off for an hour and nothing and i'm at a loss. Any help would be appreciated

I was told to change the password for my Comcast Business Router Gateway, but now i don't know what that password is. I have tried all of mine, as well as the default password, and none of them work. Is there any way to get this reset?

I have decided to ditch this DPC-3941B Cisco modem/gateway/router/firewall and replace it with a:

 

Netgear CM1000 DOCSIS 3.1 modem and re-utilize my ClearOS or Zentynal gateway/firewall/router/server Linux based hardware/software. Now I realize I have the 300/25 package (hoping to get 1GB pending price) so until then it will be used as a 3.0 modem of course. If I can get 1Gbit for $300-$350 a month I would go with it. Currently, I believe it's a whopping $399.99 per month for Gbit service in my small town of Sandwich, IL heh.

 

My question is:  Is there any need to contact Comcast and tell them I am deep sixing the DPC-3941B and using my own (other than to get credit and return it)?  I have 5 so called 'static' IP's and was wondering how this plays into the 'you cannot have a static IP if you bypass [our] gateweay deal?

 

Do I need the static's? Yes. Do I need their 'gateway' service or whatever they refer to it as?

 

 

Cable-------->Netgear CM1000------>ClearOS (firewall/gateweay/router/server)------->10Gbit managed HP Switch----> LAN

 

Would I need to install 4 additional NIC's in the ClearOS box (doable) and assign them at that location?

At this point there is nothing good I can say about Comcast equipment the service stays up the modems Constantly burn out and it’s costing my business Money waiting days for replacements have gone through 3 modems in less than 6 months would like to use my oun but since I have static IP addresses they say I can’t, but at the same time they will not come up with better product for the price they charge.so my question is, I here there is a way to use other modems with Comcast stadic static IP addresses how is it done
