Need gateway in true bridge mode

$

Hello, I'm getting errors from some devices on my network about having a double NAT detected. I believe the solution is to turn my Comcast CG3000DHR into true bridge mode. I have an Orbi wifi+router between the gateway and my home network so I don't need any of the routing features of the gateway. A simple modem is really all I need and is what I have had in the past and worked great. I'll be happy to provide all the IDs etc. that you need, thanks.

Internet down since Friday night, when can I expect a call?

My gateway was provisioned for static IP on Friday night. Apparently the change didn't work so the rep opened a ticket with "advanced repair". The change also took down my internet.

To date I have not heard from anyone to fix the problem that Comcast caused. Calling customer service is useless, all they can tell me is it will be taken care of ASAP.

I don't care what my SLA is, if Comcast caused the issue it should have been fixed immediately. Instead my business has been without internet since Friday night.

I want to know when I will at least hear from someone regarding this ticket and when the mistake will be fixed.

Expired Chinese SHA-1 Certificates on Cisco DPC3941B modems?

Just tried logging into my modem today using secure https instead of standard http, and Firefox tells me that the certificate not only expired in 2013, but was issued in Shanghai, and uses the severely outdated SHA-1 algorithm.  I've only had this modem for a few years.   The Cisco website says they're based in California, though Comcast claims they have Chinese offices as well.   So, anyone know why Comcast would be installing Chinese modems with expired certificates and SHA-1 encryption? If this weren't scary enough, because I'm running a fixed-IP server/router behind the modem, the installers recommended I set the modem firewall to the lowest setting, to allow everything to work properly.  Thanks.

Changed router IP address to now can't log into the router

I recently had to change to internal IP of my Comcast gateway, a CISCOModel dpc3941b, from 10.1.10.1 to 192.168.1.1, and now I can't log into it from the Admin Tool Login page.

I needed to make this change to allow 3 other routers on our network visible as they all had fixed 192.168.1.x addresses.

How to reset the password without having to hard reset the router (which would undo the IP address change)?

Thanks,

Joe

Monitoring Comcast Business service via SNMP on Surfboard SB6190 cable modem?

Hi,

According to Arris website, all cable modems are capable of being monitored via SNMP, but it seems the SNMP port on its LAN (192.168.100.1) is not open.  Is it possible to open it up and allow access from directly connected peer (my gateway) so I can monitor the modem?

Thanks in advance!

Just upgraded...now routing problems with NAT and port forwarding

Just got a shiny new CGA4131 with my upgraded business account.  But, they took my old SMC modem and this new one doesn't seem to be able to do the things I want:

- public to private port forwarding

- 1-1 nat

Anybody have any success getting this thing to accept settings?  I keep getting different "fail" messages from the UI.  Then entries exist in the respective tables, but the data is incorrect.  As in, for NAT, the private IP always says 255.255.255.255 and for port forwarding, the ports always say 0 and 0 for the range.

This is not good.

Bridge mode?

I have had terrible internet service since my modem was upgraded 6 months ago.  Any device connected to the Comcast modem via the built in WiFi or 2 different stand alone routers (Netgear and Google Mesh) is routinely dropped sometimes as often as every 15 minutes.  Comcast put in new cable from the street for the upgrade and I am now on my 3rd modem.  Each time the modem is replaced or factory reset it works perfectly for 2-3 days then the drops happen.  I have a computer hardwired to the modem and it never seems to drop.  I have tried changing the ethernet cables and unplugging various devices without improvement.  Do you think trying the modem in bridge mode might help?  Should I purchase my own modem?  For the record I have Comcast Business class and they increased my speed from 75 to 150 mbs during this process with no improvement.

Cradlepoint DMZ

Hi,

I'm a business customer with connection pro. I have the cradlepoint router, and I want to set up the dmz setting so that I can redirect incoming connection to inside of my network.

Can I have the cradlepoint user/pass access to set up this, or is there any way to setup the dmz setting in the cradlepoint router?

thanks

DPC3939B port forwarding broken in edge browser

If you discover that port forwarding seems completely broken, i.e hitting save on the edit or create port forward screen just ignores you, then try a different browser.

It seems the new chrome based edge browser is not supported and the save button seemingly has no effect.

Switching to internet explorer shows a status bar while saving, which presumably blocks it  working under edge. (disabling the popup blocker for this IP address seems to have no effect)

How do I unblock a mac address automatically blocked by the modem's firewall?

I have the standard comcast business modem. I tried to use "Device Control Management > Managed Devices" to block one of my devices from connecting to WiFi from midnight to 6am. That worked, but during that time the device tried to reconnect >1000 times, which resulted in that device being blocked by the modem's firewall, and now the device can no longer connect to WiFi. This pesists is despite me removing that device from the list of blocked devices in "Device Control Management > Managed Devices" and restarting the modem. Trying to temporarily disable the the firewall with "Gateway > Firewall > IPv4 > Custom Security > Disable entire firewall" also had no effect.

"Troubleshooting > Logs > Firewall Logs" contains the line (MAC address hidden for privacy)

Device MAC:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX, 1991 Attempts  2020/6/23 04:58:01 Device Blocked

I'd like to be able to connect my device to WiFi again. How can I do that?

Thanks!

I purchased a mesh wi-fi network (TP-Link Deco AX3000) and was trying to see if there is anything I need to know/do with the Cisco DCP3939B modem before I start to install these units.

resetting to default password on netgear modem gateway CG3000DCR

Hi,
I recently became the new IT Manager and the default username and password to the gateway do not work. I suspect the old IT manager changed the password and it has been lost in the process.
Is there anyway to reset this password without factory resetting the gateway?

Hi-

Recently the status on Comcast Connection Pro shows as below:

Broadband: Connected

Backup Ready: Unplugged

What does Unplugged mean? We have not changed anything in our setup or configuration.

Let me know what to do so I can resolve the issue.

Can I activate and use a new SB8200 without talking with customer support?

I'm having trouble staying connected, and have decided to give a SB8200 a try. I have the unit in hand. I made it half-way through an hour with customer support a couple weeks ago to activate it, and then we ran into a roadblock because I had bundled services.

So, I have now successfully unbundled the services and am ready to try again. But would 1000% prefer activating without a phone call. Is there a way to do so online? The login page that I see when turning on the device is Xfinity and I'm nearly sure my Business login isn't going to work.

Thanks much.

New Equipment

I switched from Xfinity to Comcast Business several months ago, but I haven't made the full switch yet. The reason is that my Business router seems to have some personal issues and I can't get them resolved. I have tried the calling support option many times before and they do the standard, "let me see if I can refresh or reboot your router..." And it seems to resolve the issue for a day or two, then it is right back. Let me explain the issues.

The business router seems to want to keep bankers hours and often automatically kills the wireless around 5-6 p.m. and I can't connect during weekends. The setup is default, except I changed the admin password and enabled and setup wireless, with a different SSDI and channel from the other router.

Support tells me the standard "it must be the wiring in your house..." but I know that isn't the case. See, Xfinity ran a new wire from the outside of the house directly to their router several years ago. Their router is still up and running and I use that daily for my connection because the Business router isn't reliable. When Comcast came in to install the Business router, they simply split the signal and connected their router to the same line. So that theory doesn't really apply, unless the splitter or jumper they used to connect to my Business router are bad, which is totally possible.

So my question for the group is, what should I do next. I can't seem to get a tech to come out to the house and look at the router. I want to kill off the Xfinity router, but then I won't have any connection.

Thanks for your help in advance.

CGA4131COM not clearing cusadmin lockout?

$

I managed to lock myself out of cusadmin on my Technicolor modem. What’s weird is that the login interface doesn’t appear to be clearing the lockout. I’ve waited several hours and am still denied with “You have 10 failed login attempts and your account will be locked for 5 minutes”

How can I clear the lockout and reset the password?

Can't see connected devices. Again.

So this has been ongoing for ages. Once again we can't see what devices are connected to our network, wired or wireless. We are working on updating some IP caneras and printers, but list the devices in the model. The list is empty. Again. When first logging into the modem it can take 30 seconds to even have it respond. Every option is SLOW. Click on an item, wait 10-15 seconds.

Seriously considering just dumping business internet - four years of this and still no reliable solution.
