I have had the same cable modem on my Comcast business account for over 6 years, ARRIS, model CM820A/CT would seem to me I should be due for an upgrade?

What is the current modem and how do I go about getting upgraded to the latest equipment?

Motorola MG7700

I currently have several locations running the motorola MG7700 modem/router -  yesterday I needed to swap out the Comcast/Netgear modem at another location since we no longer need the statc IP and replace it with a Motorola MG7700 (we bought a number of the same to use and for back up) and was told it's "not supported" - that's news to me and Motorola tech support who assures me there are plenty of these modems operating happily on the Comcast network just as ours are.  It was available as late as early 2019 when i added our last location and it obviously works so what gives?

Just yesterday I got an email from Bill Stemper, President, Comcast Business who said, among other things, "As we navigate through these turbulent times together, I am committed to keeping you informed, and above all, keeping your business connected."

Please help us stay connected -  We need someone to step up and help us get this modem provisioned -  the last thing I need to deal with is explain why when we're doing our best to keep running and cut costs, we need to go buy another modem when we have one that is brand new and obviously works.

Thank you

Hello. We are having issues making inbound VPN connections using L2PT/IPSEC through our Comcast Bussiness Device. When we make them directdly on our internal network everything is OK which suggests that the Comcast Device is somehow blocking L2PT communications.

Gateway password changed (!?) Can this be re-set?

Hello Comcast support,

my gateway is not accepting my password any longer. It worked in the past but all of a sudden the gateway rejects.
(FYI, I've written down the password, there is no mistake or "forgetting" possible).

Tried the default password as well, no luck.

Two questions:

Q1: can Comcast reset the password _without_ a reboot and/or factory reset of the gateway?

Q2: how can this happen?

Thank you & regards,

Marc

Router problems

Internet not available to our network. Problem is downstream of the Comcast box. We can connect a laptop directly to the comcast box with ethernet but signal seems stopped at the router (Netgear N600). Numerous reboots have not helped. Comcast installer left another router with us (Mojo C-75) but simply swapping the C-75 with the N600 does nothing. Suggestions?

Lost static IP after reset of Comcast Business Router

I restored factory settings on my Comcast Business Router to resolve an issue with extra BROADCOM_GUEST wireless networks being broadcast.  This was done at the suggestion of a Comcast representative in another forum post here: https://forums.businesshelp.comcast.com/t5/Equipment-Modems-Gateways/WiFi-issues-with-Technicolor-CGA4131COM-Comcast-Business-Router/td-p/40881

The factory reset fixed the issues with the BROADCOM_GUEST networks, but also removed the static IP address configuration.  I need my static IP address back.

Hello,

I need to login to my router to allow my scan tool to get through the firewall. I can not login to my router though to make that possible. I tried both possible passwords and neither will work. Thank you!

Cradlepoint - Configuration Possibilities?

So I recently got Business class installed and I have the cradlepoint setup for WAN to my main modem and then my failover line into the cradlepoint LAN BUT I want to know if we are able to get into the admin settings for the cradlepoint.

I followed the guides and it looks like the web UI is locked down and I really just want to configure SNMP on this thing so I can monitor it directly and see if I could maybe bridge the connection to my core router.

Either way has anyone gotten into the settings on these things and been able to set SNMP communities?

Port Management Rules

I have a SIP trunk service provider and I need to setup rules for incoming calls to my PBX. In the Port Manage screen I cannot enter the IP address of my SIP service provider so that I can only allow inbound traffic to the PBX from my SIP provider. I am getting "Ghost Ringing" on my phones from hacking attempts.

Please help me add the rules to the Comcast router to stop the "Ghost Ringing".

Expired certificate message on accessing modem gateway

$

I am trying to access my modem gateway by typing "10.1.10.1" into my browser (both Firefox and MS Edge). I am receiving an "unsecured connection" message because of an expired certificate. The date and time on my computer(s) is (are) correct. Doesn't Comcast need to supply me with a new certificate? Are there other safe options I can use myself? (Please don't suggest adding an exception to my browser, thanks).

Here are the details of the error:

"Your connection is not secure. The owner of 10.1.10.1 has configred their website improperly. To protect your information from being stolen, Firefox has not connected to this website. . . . " and

"10.1.10.1 uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is only valid with the following names: webui-xb3-cpe-svr.xcal.tv, www.webui-xb3-cpe-srvr.xcal.tv. The certificate expired on Saturday, March 07, 2020, 5:59 PM. The current time is Tuesday, May 05, 2020, 3:28 PM. Error code: SSL_EFFOR_BAD_CERT_DOMAIN"

Suggestions welcome. Comcast - a fix from your end would be ideal. Thank you.

Port Forwarding Problem with DPC3941

$

We are using the Comcast (Cisco) DPC3941B router/gateway on a small office network.  We need to forward Port 443 to the server.  The IP value of the Comcast gateway is 192.168.16.1.  The fixed IP value for the server is 192.168.16.2.  Whenever I try to create a port forwarding rule on Port 80 or Port 443 to the server I receive the following error message:  "Failure!  Please check your inputs."

The Comcast box functions as the DHCP server for the workstations on the network.  The value range we have specified for DHCP IP assignments is between 100 and 199 (192.168.16.100 to 192.168.16.199).

I am not sure what is wrong here (having done port forwarding numerous times on other devices).  Is it that the fixed IP of the server (the "receiving" machine of the port forwarding) is outside of the DHCP assigned IP addresses (192.168.16.2 vs. 192.168.16.x where "x" is great than or equal to "100")?  Or is the problem due to the IP version we are employing (v4 and not v6, although there is a section of fields for v6 address information on the gateway port forwarding screen that is partially greyed out).

Our entire remote access system depends on this port forwarding function, which employs a static IP from Comcast.  Most of our staff is working at home and can only work via remote access (which itself is not working due to the port forwarding problem).

Any assistance your can offer will be greatly appreciated.

John

Difference between WAN IP Address and WAN Static IP Address?

$

when i look at my cable modem status page i see the below image. some octets X'ed for privacy.

why is the modem assigned 2 separate ip's? one is my static addr (173.) and other (73.) some random wan address.

i know i can remotely access the modem using the 73. wan address, but why is that even needed? why not just use the static ip 173. as the modem address with some random port, like 8800 for remote access? is it just to give the modem a separate dedicated ip in case someone uses the bridge mode?

just curious about the dual ip / network setup.
