Forgot Password on Admin Tool Login

For some reason, one device cannot login to the router's wifi even though we are entering the same password as every other device.  I am trying to login to my router to see about changing it and then changing the wifi password back, but I cannot even login to the device.  cusadmin and highspeed do not work.  Can anyone help with a password reset?

Solid connection but slow downloads

Two questions:

1. Our office is experiencing slow download speeds. Typically 2 MB/s or slower. We currently have an SMC 8014, a stand alone voice modem and a television digital converter. The three devices are connected through a comcast supplied splitter. The SMC is handling all DHCP and routing. We do not have a static ip.

If I look at the modem status with everything connected I am seeing:

Downstream Power Level: -9.6dBmV

Downstream SNR: 29.95dB

If I connect the modem directly to the line coming in from outside, and connect the modem directly to a laptop with an ethernet cable, I am still seeing the same readings.

So, according to your "Connection Trouble Shooting Tips" we have too much noise on our downstream connection.

Now to the meat of my first question, could the modem be the culprit or the outside wiring?

2. Since like I said above, we have a stand alone voice modem, could I safely replace the SMC 8014 with a SB6190 modem and our own router without causing voice modem problems?

forwarding one port to another

I have the CBR-T gateway and, while I can forward ports, it seems that I only have the option to forward from port X to port X, not port X to port Y. I have multiple web servers running on my internal LAN and want traffic that comes in on my static IP to go to port 80 for each of the servers, determined by the incoming port. For example, from xx.xx.xx.xx:1117 to 10.1.10.20:80 and xx.xx.xx.xx:1119 to 10.1.10.21:80. Is this not possible with this gateway?

cradlepoint configuration

Hi, I have this configuration.
Comcast modem -> cradlepoint -> our router

The external traffic is not reaching our router. Traffic generated by our network works normally.

If I bypass the cradlepoint (i.e. Comcast modem -> our router) everything works as expected, i.e. generated external traffic reach our router.

Note that I did disable the Comcast modem WiFi since we are not using it anyway.

I did try to log in to the cradlepoint but it refuse to accept the default password (the one printed on the label below the cradlepoint) so I don't know if there some settings I can change to allow external traffic to pass thru or set up a firewall.

Any idea ?
Thanks

Exterior cables

How can I get someone to come out to fix the cables and cable boxes that are visible on the exterior of the buildings in the community? Those cables are an eyesore. Some of the boxes are broken, and the wires are exposed and very messy.

Reset modem password

Apparently the last time I logged into the modem I was requested to change the password (from the default highspeed) and clearly I've forgot what I changed it to. Typically I change it right back after logging in, but guess not.

I don't want to hard reset the device.

Thanks

Alternative to Comcast Cisco DPC3941B

I'm having the same problems with the DPC3941B that many others have reported on both the Comcast Business and Cisco forums - no Connected Devices showing, no way to add a device with a reserved IP address, and not serving IP addresses to non-Windows devices, particularly wifi-connected printers. I'd like replace the DPC3941B replaced with a different business gateway supported by Comcast/ What's the best alternative available for rent from Comcast Business? Or should I just put it in bridge mode and add my own router and WAP?

Its a Cisco DPC3941B. The reason I wanted to reset is because the login\password is lost. Held the button in multiple times for different lengths of time. Held it down while powering up, etc. Doesnt seem to do anything

Keep losing access to network devices. Internet seems okay

We keep having intermittent local connection problems. We are using the business class modem and router and occasionally it kicks us all off our network connection, even though our internet still works we can't connect to our local server or printers anymore. To get each computer to see each other again we have to turn wifi off and back on each computer.  It's a huge pain and I'm this close to switch the whole thing to bridge mode and using our own router since having an outside service disrupt local connections is frustrating.

New cable modem already registered to another Comcast Account

Hi,

My modem has been having problems for the past few months requiring power resets.  I ordered a brand new replacement modem from Amazon which was a sold directly by Amazon.  It is an Arris SBG7400AC2.  But when I called to activate the MAC address I was told it was already registered to another Comcast customer.  The modem packaging looked factory wrapped new, not factory refurbished.  I don't believe that I was shipped a used modem but it was easier to just contact Amazon and request a replacement.

Well, the replacement came and I was told the same thing by the Comcast phone support rep, the modem MAC address was already registered to another customer.  Can someone at Comcast help me get my new modem registered?  I can privately provide the S/N and MAC.  Thank you.

DPC3939B leaking RFC1918 private addresses to static IP address

I have a Comcast Business Internet supplied DPC3939B with one static IP address.

The DPC3939B replaced a 12-year old SMC device (also supplied by Comcast).  Both devices have 4 "LAN" ports.

Into one of the ports is a UNIX server with the static IP manually configured.  Egress and Ingress continues to work as-expected with the move to the DPC3939B.

HOWEVER, I also have a WiFi router plugged into another one of the "LAN" ports and it is not working properly with the DPC3939B as with the old SMC.  The WiFi router DHCP's connected devices from the DPC3939B and gets say, 10.1.10.10 with 10.1.10.1 as the gateway (ie, the DPC3939B).

The problem is when I try to access services on the UNIX server with a fully public routable static IP, the DPC3939B is not NATing the WiFi devices' packets.  INSTEAD tcpdump shows 10.1.10.10 coming INTO the public interface of the UNIX machine.  Previously the SMC would NAT these packets using its public routable address (ie, the gateway address for the UNIX machine).

How to configure the DPC3939B to stop breaking RFC 1918 and not tossing 10.1.10.* addresses to a publicly routed IP address??

Need to powercycle modem frequently

We have a very old modem/router that we have to power cycle frequently to access certain websites or to handle DHCP correctly.  For example, we can't access google.com but after I reset the modem now we can access the site. Or sometimes people connect to our network and can only access the LAN, not the internet. After a modem powercycle they can access the internet.

Thanks.

Comcast Buisness Class has a list of approved cable modems at https://business.comcast.com/help-and-support/internet/comcast-business-cable-modem-device-compatibility.

Today a technician replaced my old cable modem with a new (for negative values of current models) Cisco DPC3941B.

Cisco has this is as discontinued device (https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/obsolete/video/cisco-dpc3941-wireless-residential-gateway-with-digital-voice.html with a content date of 25 June 2017). That means no updates to the firmware from Cisco. Does Comcast support leaving insecure devices on their network?

Should I decide on dropping the overpriced leased equipment is there any bonding of signaling, or specific configurations  that is done by Comcast on leased modems that could be done on a customer supplied cable modem to improve bandwidth perfomance.

Connected devices do not show up in my routers device list.

I have tried connecting to my router from within the office but my webpage times out but when I login remotely I can get to the routers webpage with no problem. But when I try to see the connected devices there are none there. I have several computers that are wired to the modem/router through a switch and I know they are powered on and working as I can connect to them through TeamViewer but they do not display on my routers device listing. I have checked several of the SOLVED posts for this problem but all of them suggest resetting the modem to factory defaults but that does not solve the problem for long. I am wondering how I can get my modem/router working properly for the long term

Schedule a daily reboot?

Hoping someone can help.

Recently had my modem replaced (one of the ETH ports died) with the "new model".

I am finding that every day to day-and-a-half, the modem stops passing all WiFi traffic and shortly thereafter, all LAN traffic except through LAN Ethernet Port 1.  Once it stops passing traffic, DHCP also halts and will not allow existing clients to connect (even if they have a reservation), or issue IPs to new clients.

During all of this, status shows green across the board and no errors are seen in the logs.

A reboot of the modem fixes the problem for another day to day-and-a-half.

From what the technician said, this modem is so new that firmware /software updates are being rolled out "almost all the time", so until it stabilizes, reboot seems to be a reasonable workaround.

I'd like to automate this, so I'm hoping that someone can point me to the right WebUI area, or set me up for command line access if that's the only way.
